Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) held the opening ceremony
of the JBNU–Purdue Research Institute (JPRI) on March 31, 2026,
at the Industry–University Convergence Plaza, in collaboration
with Purdue University.
The ceremony marked the official launch of a global joint
research hub based on a strategic partnership between the
two universities. Key attendees included JBNU President
Yang Oh-bong, Purdue University Vice President Dimitrios Peroulis,
and representatives from major institutions and industry.
Purdue University is a globally recognized research university
with strong competitiveness in advanced fields such as engineering,
aerospace, and semiconductors. This collaboration is expected
to serve as a significant milestone in enhancing JBNU’s global
research capabilities.
Through this partnership, the two universities plan to expand
collaboration across education and research, including joint
research projects, faculty exchange and joint appointments,
and undergraduate and graduate student exchange programs.
JPRI will serve as a core platform for international joint research
and industry–academia collaboration, focusing on emerging fields
such as Physical AI and advanced defense industries.
Based on this initiative, JBNU aims to strengthen its global
research and education network and grow into a leading
international hub university.
