Start-up Support Center of JBNU held a Global Inbound Start-up Performance Exchange program on December 3rd at THE MAY HOTEL in Jeonju. The event was organized for around forty international students participating in the Global Inbound program. It featured the sharing of competition results, presentations by the top-performing team, the competition awards ceremony, and guidance on follow-up support. The event also included various exchange programs, such as an OASIS briefing session on startup visas and five specialised consultation booths on law, visas, business models, marketing, and intellectual property. These booths offered participants practical information.

The Global Inbound program offers a structured support system for international students seeking to start a business. It includes startup education, mentoring, competitions, performance exchange meetings, and follow-up support. Through this program, JBNU aims to assist international students in establishing businesses in the region. Since its introduction in 2024, the program has expanded its scope by enhancing the operation framework. It especially strengthened customized mentoring for international students, refined its evaluation system. It also strengthened links with local startup organizations and provided OASIS corporate establishment guidelines.

Jeong Da-un, the program manager from the JBNU Startup Support Center, explained that the program was designed to guide students through learning, refining, and presenting their ideas in a structured way. The enhanced customization of mentoring and the strengthened focus on feasibility played major roles in helping participants develop their projects. According to Jeong, the most meaningful outcome of the program was seeing students gain the confidence to pursue a start-up in South Korea. She noted that students not only refined their ideas but also recognized their own potential through the process.

Many international students said the program helped them develop their ideas. They also noted that it gave them a more practical understanding of entrepreneurship.
Wang Xin-ying, from the Department of Design and Manufacturing Engineering, joined the program due to her long-standing interest in business. She shared that discussions with mentors and peers helped her adapt her visually oriented ideas to the South Korean market. She felt that the pitch preparation process contributed most to her growth, saying that organizing the presentation in a short time and explaining parts of it in Korean was challenging, but it became a moment of confidence.

Sasongko Abimanyu Pratama, from the Department of Physics, explained that the competition made him recognize the need to revise his business model so it could better align with cultural and market differences. His small food business in Indonesia served as the basis for his idea, and mentoring further clarified the specific adjustments required for the South Korean context. He also noted that meeting participants from diverse backgrounds expanded his perspective on entrepreneurship.
Jeong Da-un told the participants that “their ideas can become new opportunities beyond language or nationality” and stated that JBNU will continue providing practical support for their entrepreneurial journeys.
