전북대학교 기록관리학과가 베트남 주요 대학과 함께 캡스톤디자인 프로그램을 운영해 학생들에게 글로벌 기록관리 역량과 국제 협력 능력을 동시에 키울 수 있는 기회를 제공하며 큰 호응을 얻었다.

이번 프로그램은 전통적으로 이공계 중심으로 운영돼 온 캡스톤디자인을 인문사회계 분야로 확장한 사례로 주목받고 있다.

이번 프로그램은 전북대가 글로컬대학30 사업의 일환으로 지난 8월 14일부터 21일까지 베트남 호치민 현지에서 반히엔(Van Hien 대) 한국어학과 학생들과 함께 진행됐다.

양국 학생들은 공동 PBL(Problem-Based Learning) 방식으로 프로젝트를 설계해 단순 학문 교류를 넘어 지역문화 발굴과 기록화 작업까지 수행했다.

특히 지난 8월 15일에는 광복 80주년을 기념하는 ‘한류 페스티벌’이 열려 K-컬처를 소개하고 체험하는 행사가 진행됐다. 이어 8월 17일부터 20일까지 전북대 기록관리대학원생 11명이 조장을 맡고, 반히엔대 한국어학과 학부생 43명이 조원으로 참여해 총 54명이 ‘마을의 기억을 담다’를 주제로 로컬 스토리텔링 캡스톤 프로젝트를 수행했다.

특히 전북대와 반히엔대에서 각각 7명의 교원이 팀티칭으로 참여하며 학생들의 연구와 활동을 지원했다. 참가자들은 각 지역 고유 문화를 담은 다양한 기록을 발굴하고, 이를 한국과 베트남의 역사·문화적 맥락 속에서 재해석하는 성과를 거뒀다.

전북대 기록관리학과 학과주임 오효정 교수는 “캡스톤디자인은 주로 이공계에서만 활성화돼 왔지만 이번 프로젝트는 글로컬 주제를 인문학적 관점에서 기록관리 교육을 실천했다는 점에서 의미가 크다”며, “‘가장 한국적인 것이 가장 세계적’이라는 모토 아래 두 나라 지역문화의 기억을 함께 발굴하고 기록화한 것은 인문사회대 차원에서도 중요한 성과”라고 강조했다.

한편, 반히엔대 한국학과는 2007년 학생 25명으로 시작해 현재(2025년) 1,129명으로 성장한 베트남 대표 한국학 교육기관이다. 이번 협력은 반히엔대 학생들에게 한국의 기록관리와 문화 스토리텔링 경험을 제공함으로써 향후 한·베트남 학문·문화 교류의 교두보 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.



JBNU Department of Records Management Successfully Hosts Capstone Design Program with Van Hien University in Vietnam


The Department of Records Management at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) successfully hosted a Capstone Design program in collaboration with Van Hien University in Vietnam, offering students a valuable opportunity to develop global records management skills and foster international cooperation. The program received enthusiastic responses from participants.

This initiative was notable for extending the Capstone Design approach, typically applied in science and engineering, to the humanities and social sciences.

The program took place from August 14 to 21 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as part of JBNU’s Glocal University 30 initiative. Students from Van Hien University joined JBNU students in joint Problem-Based Learning (PBL) projects, working not only on academic exchange but also on exploring and documenting local cultural heritage.

On August 15, the “K-Culture Festival” commemorated the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation, allowing participants to experience Korean culture firsthand. From August 17 to 20, a total of 54 students participated in the ‘Capturing the Memories of Local Communities’ Capstone Project, including 11 JBNU graduate students in records management as team leaders and 43 undergraduate students in Korean Language from Van Hien University as team members.

Seven faculty members from each university participated in team teaching, supporting students’ research and activities. Participants explored various cultural records unique to each region and reinterpreted them within the historical and cultural contexts of Korea and Vietnam.

Professor Hyo-jung Oh, Head of JBNU’s Department of Records Management, stated, “While Capstone Design programs have traditionally focused on STEM fields, this project applied the Glocal theme to records management education from a humanities perspective. Under the motto ‘The most Korean is the most global,’ uncovering and documenting the cultural memories of both countries represents a significant achievement for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.”

Van Hien University’s Korean Studies Department, established in 2007 with 25 students and now hosting 1,129 students, is Vietnam’s leading institution for Korean studies. The collaboration with JBNU provided students with hands-on experience in Korean records management and cultural storytelling, laying a foundation for future academic and cultural exchanges between Korea and Vietnam.
