전북대학교와 한국과학기술연구원(원장 오상록·이하 KIST)이 국립대 최초로 도입한 학연교수제를 통해 설립된 JBNU-KIST 산학연융합학과(학과장 이승희 교수)가 지역 강소기업인 에너에버배터리솔루션(주)(대표 신상기)과 손잡고 산학 연계형 교육 프로그램을 본격 시행한다.

전북대 JBNU-KIST 산학연융합학과는 과학기술정보통신부의 ‘학·연 협력 플랫폼 구축 시범사업’과 정부가 추진하는 대학-출연연 장벽 허물기 정책의 일환으로, 기업과 연계한 현장 중심 교육을 실시해왔다. 지난해 12월 비나텍(주)과 협약을 맺고 학생들의 기업체 현장실습과 취업 연계를 추진해 온 데 이어, 올해는 에너에버배터리솔루션(주)을 새로운 참여 기업으로 맞이했다.

이번 협력은 ‘전북형 워털루 코업(Co-Operative Education) 프로그램’의 일환이다. 이 프로그램은 캐나다 워털루 대학의 실무인재 양성 프로그램을 지역 실정에 맞게 재설계한 현장 실습 지원 사업으로 학기 중엔 대학에서 이론수업을, 방학 중엔 기업에서 현장실습에 참여하며 전공 지식과 실무 역량을 동시에 키우는 실무형 인재양성 프로그램이다. 이를 통해 학생들은 전공지식과 실무 능력을 동시에 강화할 수 있다.

에너에버배터리솔루션(주)은 이차전지 분리막 코팅기술과 우수한 설비를 기반으로 배터리 핵심 소재 및 부품을 생산하는 전북 대표기업이다. 전북대는 대학원생들에게 현장실습과 취업 기회를 제공하고, 기업은 학생들의 신기술 습득과 실무 역량 강화를 지원한다.

이 프로그램의 성공적 운영을 위해 JBNU-KIST 산학연융합학과와 에너에버배터리솔루션(주)은 최근 업무 협약을 체결했다.

이 프로그램을 주도하고 있는 이승희 교수(고분자·나노공학과)는 “이번 프로그램은 과학기술정보통신부가 추진하는 대학-출연연 간 장벽 허물기 정책의 중요한 트랙으로, 2024년도에 이어 올해에도 학연교수를 통해 양성된 맞춤형 인재들이 지역 기업으로 유입될 수 있는 기반을 제공할 것”이라며 “이를 통해 산학연 협력의 모범 사례가 계속 이어지게 될 뿐만 아니라, 대학원생들의 취업률 향상에도 크게 이바지할 것으로 기대한다”라고 밝혔다.

JBNU–KIST Strengthen Industry Collaboration with Local Innovative Company


Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), through the JBNU–KIST Convergence Department — established under the nation’s first Academic–Research Professor System — have launched a new industry-linked education program in collaboration with EnerEVER Battery Solution Co., Ltd., a leading local battery technology company.

The JBNU–KIST Convergence Department has been carrying out field-oriented education programs as part of the Ministry of Science and ICT’s Pilot Project for Building Academic–Research Collaboration Platforms, which supports policies to bridge the gap between universities and national research institutes. Following an agreement with Vinatech Co., Ltd. in December last year, the department has now welcomed EnerEVER Battery Solution as a new partner company in 2025.

This collaboration is part of the “Jeonbuk-Style Waterloo Co-Operative Education Program,” a local adaptation of the University of Waterloo’s world-renowned co-op education model. The program enables students to take theoretical courses during the semester and participate in hands-on internships during vacation periods, allowing them to strengthen both academic knowledge and practical skills.

EnerEVER Battery Solution Co., Ltd. is recognized for its advanced coating technology for secondary battery separators and high-quality production facilities, serving as one of Jeonbuk’s representative battery materials companies. JBNU provides graduate students with internship and employment opportunities, while the company supports students’ acquisition of new technologies and the development of practical capabilities.

To ensure the program’s successful operation, the JBNU–KIST Convergence Department and EnerEVER Battery Solution Co., Ltd. recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

Professor Seunghee Lee of the Department of Polymer–Nano Engineering, who leads the program, stated,

“This initiative represents an important track within the Ministry of Science and ICT’s efforts to break down barriers between universities and government-funded research institutes. Building on last year’s achievements, it will provide a foundation for customized talent — trained through the Academic–Research Professor System — to flow into local industries. We expect this collaboration to serve as a model of university–industry–research cooperation and significantly contribute to improving graduate employment outcomes.”
