中 호북성 주요 대학들과 맞손…‘유학생 5천명 유치’ 가속도
전북대학교가 중국 호북성 주요 대학과의 긴밀한 교류를 통해 실제 유학생 유치를 이끌어 내며 유학생 5천 명 유치에 청신호를 켰다.
전북대 조화림 국체처장 등 방문단은 지난 10월 15일부터 18일까지 중국 호북성의 중국지질대학교, 호북대학교, 무한직업기술대학교, 무한철로직업기술대학 등을 방문해 이 대학들과 2+2 학부과정 프로그램 중외합작프로그램, 교환학생, 대학원 진학 협력을 포함한 구체적 성과를 도출했다.
구체적으로 중국의 국립 자연과학 특화 명문대학인 중국지질대학교와 2+2 학부과정 프로그램, 초청교환학생 프로그램 추진을 통해 2026년 3월부터 우수 유학생 40여명을 유치하기로 하였으며, 해당 프로그램 참여를 희망하는 학생들과의 간담회를 통해 전북대학교 소개와 더불어 전북대 입학에 대한 심도 있는 질의응답 시간을 가졌다.
또한 개교 94년의 역사를 지닌 호북성 지역 명문대학인 호북대학교와는 학술교류협정(MOU) 체결을 진행하였으며, 교환학생 프로그램 확대, 대학원 진학, 공동 연구 방안 등의 실질적 협력을 통해 호북대학교 현지의 우수 인재들의 대학원 진학을 유도하는 체계도 마련했다.
무한직업기술대학교, 무한철로직업기술대학과도 현지 학생들을 대상으로 3+2프로그램을 활용한 전북대 편입과 석사과정 진학을 협의했고, 초청 교환학생 및 중외합작프로그램을 통해 지속 가능한 유학생 유치와 우수 인재 양성을 강화에 협력해 나가기로 했다.
조화림 전북대 국제처장은 “지질대학교, 호북대학교 등 중국 호북성 일대의 명문 대학과의 협력은 전북대가 추진하는 유학생 5천명 시대의 든든한 발판이 될 것”이라며 “맞춤형 연계 프로그램을 통해 중국의 많은 우수 유학생이 전북대학교에 입학하여 저마다 이루고자 하는 꿈을 이루어 나갈 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
JBNU Strengthens Ties with Key Universities in Hubei Province, Accelerating Goal of Attracting 5,000 International Students
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has taken a significant step toward attracting international students by strengthening collaborations with major universities in Hubei Province, China, signaling positive momentum for its goal of recruiting 5,000 international students.
From October 15 to 18, a delegation led by Jo Hwa-rim, Dean of JBNU’s Office of International Affairs, visited several prominent Hubei institutions, including China University of Geosciences, Hubei University, Wuhan Vocational and Technical University, and Wuhan Railway Vocational and Technical College. During the visit, the delegation secured tangible outcomes in areas such as 2+2 undergraduate programs, Sino-foreign joint programs, exchange student initiatives, and graduate school collaboration.
Specifically, JBNU reached an agreement with China University of Geosciences, a nationally recognized university specializing in natural sciences, to admit approximately 40 outstanding students starting March 2026 through a 2+2 undergraduate program and visiting exchange student opportunities. The delegation also held a meeting with prospective participants to introduce JBNU and provide an in-depth Q&A session regarding admission procedures.
In addition, the delegation signed an academic cooperation MOU with Hubei University, a prestigious institution with 94 years of history in the region, and discussed practical collaboration measures such as expanding exchange programs, graduate school pathways, and joint research initiatives to attract top local talent for graduate studies.
The delegation also engaged with Wuhan Vocational and Technical University and Wuhan Railway Vocational and Technical College to promote JBNU transfer programs and master’s degree pathways through 3+2 programs for local students, as well as through visiting exchange and Sino-foreign joint programs. These efforts aim to ensure sustainable international student recruitment and foster outstanding talent in collaboration with these universities.
Jo Hwa-rim, Dean of International Affairs at JBNU, stated, “Our collaboration with leading universities in Hubei Province—such as China University of Geosciences and Hubei University—will serve as a solid foundation for JBNU’s goal of attracting 5,000 international students. We will do our utmost to ensure that many outstanding Chinese students can enter JBNU through tailored pathway programs and pursue their academic goals here.”
