우리대학-한국조선해양기자재연구원, 새만금 미래 혁신 연다
전북대학교가 글로컬대학30 사업을 통해 추진하는 JUIC Triangle(대학-산업-도시 상생 모델)이 본격적인 산학협력 단계에 돌입했다. 전북대는 10월 28일(화) 오전 11시 본부 4층 총장실에서 한국조선해양기자재연구원(KOMERI, 원장 배정철)과 새만금을 기반으로 한 미래 전략산업 혁신 생태계 구축을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 전북대가 추진 중인 ‘JUIC@새만금 클러스터’의 핵심 산업축을 강화하고, 지역 산업 구조를 그린 수소 에너지와 방위산업, AX(AI Transformation) 기반 첨단 제조혁신 체제로 전환하는 데 중요한 디딤돌이 될 것으로 평가된다.
양 기관은 협약을 통해 전북대 새만금프런티어캠퍼스 부지를 활용한 공동 연구·실증 기반을 구축하고, 그린 수소 에너지와 방위산업, AX 분야의 연구 인프라 및 기술 교류 확대해 나가기로 했다.
또한 첨단 산업기술 전문인력 공동 양성 프로그램 운영과 지·산·학·연 공동 캠퍼스 구축을 통한 산업생태계 활성화 등 다각도의 협력체계를 구축하기로 했다.
이와 함께 이날 한국조선해양기자재연구원은 전북대 발전을 기원하며 1천만 원의 발전기금도 기부했다.
양오봉 총장은 “이번 협약은 전북대가 지역 상생을 위해 적극 추진하고 있는 JUIC Triangle 전략이 구체적으로 산업 현장에서 실현되기 시작했다는 중요한 기점”이라며 “대학과 기업, 연구기관이 함께 혁신 성장을 이끄는 산학 혁신 모델을 구축하겠다”고 말했다.
JBNU and KoMERI Forge Path to Future Innovation in Saemangeum
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has entered a full-scale stage of industry–academia collaboration through the JUIC Triangle model—its core initiative under the Glocal University 30 program. On October 28 at 11 a.m., JBNU held an MOU signing ceremony with the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KoMERI), led by President Bae Jeong-cheol, in the president’s office on the 4th floor of the main administration building. The agreement aims to build an innovation ecosystem for future strategic industries based in the Saemangeum region.
The partnership is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the key industrial pillars of the university’s ongoing “JUIC@Saemangeum Cluster” initiative and in supporting the region’s transition toward green hydrogen energy, defense industries, and an advanced manufacturing innovation system driven by AX (AI Transformation).
Under the agreement, the two institutions will work together to establish a joint research and demonstration base utilizing JBNU’s Saemangeum Frontier Campus site. They will also expand research infrastructure and technology exchange in the fields of green hydrogen energy, defense industries, and AX.
In addition, the two organizations agreed to build a multifaceted cooperation framework, including the operation of joint training programs for advanced industrial technology professionals and the development of a collaborative campus connecting local governments, industries, academia, and research institutions to revitalize the regional industrial ecosystem.
On the same day, KoMERI also donated KRW 10 million to support the development of Jeonbuk National University.
President Yang O-bong stated, “This agreement marks an important milestone, demonstrating that the JUIC Triangle strategy—actively promoted by JBNU for regional co-prosperity—is now beginning to take shape in real industrial settings.” He added, “The university will work to establish an industry–academia innovation model that drives collaborative growth among universities, companies, and research institutions.”
