Psychology major
Psychology is an academic discipline that seeks to scientifically study human behavior and mental processes and apply the findings to promote human well-being. Its primary goal is to educate well-rounded individuals who integrate intellectual development, emotional maturity, and behavioral function by acquiring fundamental psychological knowledge, skills, and attitudes and cultivating the ability to apply them. It provides vocational preparatory education for fields requiring psychological principles and other areas of expertise, offers foundational training for graduate school admission for more specialized learning, and provides a psychological knowledge base that serves as an absolute foundation for related disciplines. It primarily covers human neurophysiological foundations, perceptual and cognitive abilities, personality, developmental processes, and social behavior, as well as the testing and diagnosis of mental disorders, counseling and psychotherapeutic techniques, human therapy in industrial settings, and human behavior, the environment, and health within organizations.
Departmental club activities
Psychodrama (http://cafe.daum.net/PDL cbnu), which researches psychodrama—a form of psychotherapy—and Red Psycho (redpsycho.cyworld.com), united by loyalty and athletic activities like soccer, are actively engaged, while the band Psycho consistently delivers impressive performances at every Psychology Department event. In addition, there are wonderful gatherings held annually through the Psychology Department Joint MT and Psychologists' Day, where professors, graduate students, current students, and alumni come together in harmony.
Career path after graduation
Although psychology has a relatively short history as an independent academic discipline compared to other adjacent fields, it has achieved rapid development and is establishing its position as a foundational field of social science and an applied field seeking solutions to various problems in modern society. Graduates of the Department of Psychology enter various sectors, including corporations (HR, education, marketing, and public relations), government agencies (civil servants, police, and correctional officers), hospitals and counseling centers, research institutes (public opinion polls, consumer market research), the media (broadcasting companies, magazines, newspapers), schools, and research institutes. In particular, as rising unemployment, job insecurity, and family breakdown emerge as major social issues, the demand for occupational psychology and health psychology specialists is steadily increasing.
