전북대학교 남원 글로컬캠퍼스 한국어학과 김가람 교수가 세종학당에서 한국 유학을 준비하는 외국인 학습자를 위한 특별 과정 교재 『세종학당 유학 한국어 1·2』 를 출간했다.세종학당은 국외 한국어 교육과 한국 문화 보급을 위해 설립된 문화체육관광부 산하 기관으로, 현재 전 세계 89개국 273개소에서 운영되고 있다. 2025년 한 해에만 약 24만 명의 외국인이 세종학당에서 한국어를 학습하는 등 세계 한국어·한국문화 확산의 핵심 교육기관으로 자리하고 있다.최근 세종학당 학습자들의 한국어 학습 목적이 문화적 관심을 넘어 한국 유학과 이주, 취업 등으로 다변화하면서 실제 대학생활과 학업 수행에 필요한 교육과정에 대한 수요도 커지고 있다. 이번 교재는 이러한 변화에 맞춰 해외 학습자들이 한국 유학을 준비하고 대학 생활에 안정적으로 적응할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 개발됐다.『세종학당 유학 한국어 1』은 유학 준비 과정과 한국 생활 적응에 필요한 의사소통 내용을 중심으로 구성됐다. 『세종학당 유학 한국어 2』는 강의 듣기, 학술 자료 읽기, 보고서 작성 등 대학에서의 학업 수행에 필요한 한국어 능력을 기를 수 있도록 설계됐다. 한국 대학의 문화와 실제 학업 환경을 반영해, 학습자가 입학 이후 겪을 수 있는 언어적·문화적 어려움을 줄이는 데 초점을 맞췄다.김 교수는 “비슈케크 세종학당에서 『세종한국어』로 공부한 키르기스스탄 신입생이 전북대에 와서 자신이 배운 교재를 쓴 교수의 수업을 듣게 돼 매우 신기하다고 말한 적이 있다”며 “앞으로도 많은 외국인이 『세종학당 유학 한국어』로 한국어를 배우고 전북대에서 학업의 꿈을 이어가기를 기대한다”고 말했다.김 교수는 2022년 세종학당 정규 교재인 『세종한국어』를 출간했으며, ‘세종한국어평가(SKA)’ 출제위원을 맡는 등 유학생 대상 한국어 교육 분야의 전문성을 꾸준히 쌓아왔다. 한편, 전북대 남원 글로컬캠퍼스 한국어학과는 유학생 전용 학과로, 한국어와 한국문화에 대한 깊이 있는 이해를 바탕으로 전문 분야에서 활동할 글로벌 인재를 양성하고 있다. 현재 70명의 유학생이 재학 중이다.

전북대학교 사회복지학과와 행정학과 학생들이 호주 시드니 College of Law와 연계한 ‘글로벌 PBL(Project-Based Learning) 연수 프로그램’을 성공적으로 마쳤다. 학생들은 다문화사회와 공공행정, 사회복지 분야의 현안을 직접 탐구하며 국제적 문제해결 역량을 키웠다.이번 연수에는 사회복지학과 윤명숙·정규형 교수와 행정학과 민경선·최한별 교수가 참여했으며, 행정학과와 사회복지학과 학생 각 8명 등 총 16명이 함께했다.학생들은 최근까지 5일간의 국내 사전학습에 이어 8박 10일간 호주 현지를 직접 찾아 현지 전문가들과 학술 교류 및 현장연수를 진행했다.프로그램은 복잡한 공공 문제를 비판적으로 분석하고 실질적 해결방안을 도출하는 프로젝트 기반 학습(PBL) 방식으로 운영됐다. 참가 학생들은 한국과 호주의 법·행정·사회정책 환경을 비교하며 공공 거버넌스와 지역사회 복지에 대한 이해를 넓혔다.현지 연구진과 실무자들이 참여한 강의와 토론에서는 호주 정부의 정책 및 행정관리, 공공부문 재정건전성, 트라우마 인식 기반 서비스, 다문화주의 등이 다뤄졌다.특히 ‘사회적 보호에서의 AI 활용’과 ‘AI 시대의 알고리즘 정부’ 등 기술과 정책을 결합한 주제는 학생들의 높은 관심을 받았다.학생들은 주거 안정성을 주제로 한 미니 PBL 워크숍에 참여하고 뉴사우스웨일스주 의회(NSW Parliament) 등 주요 기관을 방문하며 현지 공공서비스 체계와 정책 현장을 살폈다. 연수 마지막 날에는 팀별로 발굴한 공공행정·사회복지 문제의 원인을 분석하고 정책 대안을 제시하는 최종 발표를 진행했다.김현진 학생(사회복지학과 3년)은 “사회복지가 단순한 이론이 아니라 다양한 관점을 연결해 실제 문제를 해결해가는 과정임을 배웠다”며 “사회복지를 바라보는 시야를 넓힐 수 있었던 의미 있는 경험”이라고 말했다. 김대영 학생(행정학과 3년)도 “문제를 다각도로 분석하고 해결하는 과정에서 언어적 완벽함보다 적극적인 소통과 타인의 관점을 수용하는 자세가 중요하다는 점을 깨달았다”고 소감을 밝혔다.이번 연수를 총괄한 윤명숙 대외·취업부총장은 “학생들이 국제적 시야를 넓히고 양국의 정책 환경 차이를 이해하면서 스스로 실질적인 해결책을 모색한 뜻깊은 계기였다”며 “앞으로도 학생들이 글로벌 역량을 갖춘 공공·사회복지 전문인력으로 성장할 수 있도록 국제 교류와 지원을 확대하겠다”고 말했다.

전북대학교 독일학과가 방학 중 글로벌 PBL(문제중심학습)을 통해 독일을 직접 찾아 문학 텍스트와 도시 공간을 연결해 독일 현대사와 유럽 통합의 의미를 체험적으로 탐구하는 시간을 가졌다. 이번 프로그램은 ‘발터 벤야민의 『베를린의 유년시절』과 베를린 도시 산책(Flaneur)’을 주제로, 독일학과 학생 16명이 참여해 진행됐다. 이번 프로젝트는 지난 2019년 학생들이 독일어와 문학, 유럽의 다양한 정신문화를 체험할 수 있도록 20억 원을 기부한 김정옥 김희경유럽정신문화재단 이사장의 지원으로 마련됐다. 기존 어학연수 중심의 해외 체험을 넘어, 강의실에서 배운 인문학적 질문을 현장에서 스스로 발견하고 토론하는 글로벌 PBL 교육의 장으로 기획됐다.학생들은 베를린 도심 슈타트미테역에서 출발해 젠다르멘마르크트, 훔볼트대학교, 운터 덴 린덴, 브란덴부르크문, 티어가르텐, 포츠담광장 등을 잇는 약 3시간의 도시 산책을 진행했다.이를 통해 발터 벤야민이 『1900년경 베를린의 유년시절』에서 포착한 대도시의 풍경과 사유 이미지를 실제 공간에서 되짚으며, 베를린의 과거와 현재가 교차하는 도시의 결을 읽어냈다.특히 학생들은 훔볼트대학교 본관 계단에 새겨진 포이어바흐 테제의 문구를 원어로 읽고, 대학 본부 뒤편의 오래된 은행나무 아래에서 타자와 공존의 의미를 토론했다.또 영화 <사랑의 추구와 발견>의 촬영지로 알려진 젠다르멘마르크트에서는 시간의 흐름에 따른 도시 경관의 변화를 살폈다. 박물관섬의 박물관과 미술관을 둘러보며 베를린이 축적해 온 예술·문화 자산의 규모와 의미도 체감했다.브란덴부르크문과 티어가르텐, 포츠담광장 일대에서는 독일 통일과 냉전, 분단의 역사를 중심으로 도시 공간이 품은 기억을 탐색했다. 독일 통일의 상징인 브란덴부르크문 곁의 홀로코스트 추모 공간, 베를린 장벽의 흔적, 시민들이 일상에서 기억을 보존하는 슈톨퍼슈타인(Stolperstein) 등을 통해 학생들은 과거사 청산과 집단 기억, 사회적 책임의 문제를 함께 성찰했다.학생들을 지도한 김영룡 교수(독일학과)는 “이번 프로그램은 단순 해외 견학을 넘어 문학과 역사, 정치와 문화가 중첩된 베를린의 공간을 학생들이 직접 걸으며 탐구했다는 점에서 의미가 크다”며 “인공지능 시대의 가상공간에 익숙한 학생들이 도시의 거리와 건축물, 기념물에 남은 역사적 흔적을 직접 마주하며 대도시의 토폴로지와 인간 삶의 관계를 새롭게 이해하는 계기가 됐다”고 말했다.Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of German Studies Reads the 'City of Memory' While Walking in BerlinJBNU Department of German Studies conducted a global PBL (Problem-Based Learning) program during the break, traveling to Germany to connect literary texts with urban spaces and to experientially explore the meanings of modern German history and European integration.The program, titled 'Walter Benjamin's Berlin Childhood around 1900 and the Berlin Urban Walk (Flaneur)', was carried out with the participation of 16 students from the Department of German Studies.This project was made possible with support from Chairman Kim Jeong‑ok of the Kim Hee‑kyung European Intellectual Culture Foundation, who donated KRW 2 billion in 2019 to enable students to experience German language, literature, and Europe’s diverse intellectual cultures. Planned beyond conventional language-study–centered overseas experiences, it was designed as a global PBL educational setting in which students discover and discuss the humanities questions learned in the classroom on site. The students began their approximately three-hour city walk at Stadtmitte Station and proceeded through Gendarmenmarkt, Humboldt University, Unter den Linden, the Brandenburg Gate, Tiergarten, and Potsdamer Platz. Through this itinerary, they retraced in physical space the urban landscapes and modes of thought Walter Benjamin captured in 'Berlin Childhood around 1900' and read the city's texture where Berlin’s past and present intersect. In particular, students read in the original language the wording of the Feuerbach theses engraved on the main staircase of Humboldt University's main building, and discussed the meaning of otherness and coexistence beneath an old ginkgo tree behind the university administration building.At Gendarmenmarkt, known as a filming location for the film 'The Pursuit and Discovery of Love', they examined changes in the city's landscape over time. Touring the museums and galleries on Museum Island, they also experienced the scale and significance of Berlin’s accumulated artistic and cultural assets. In the areas around the Brandenburg Gate, Tiergarten, and Potsdamer Platz, they explored the memories embedded in urban spaces with a focus on German reunification, the Cold War, and the history of division. Through the Holocaust memorial space beside the Brandenburg Gate, traces of the Berlin Wall, and Stolpersteine (Stolperstein) that citizens use to preserve memory in everyday life, students reflected together on historical reckoning, collective memory, and social responsibility. Professor Kim Young-ryong (Department of German Studies), who guided the students, said, 'This program is significant because, beyond a simple overseas field trip, students walked through Berlin's spaces where literature, history, politics, and culture overlap and explored them directly. It provided an opportunity for students, who are accustomed to virtual spaces in the age of artificial intelligence, to confront historical traces in the city's streets, architecture, and monuments and to gain a renewed understanding of the topology of a metropolis and its relationship to human life.'

전북대학교 간호학과와 사회복지학과가 ‘2026 글로벌 PBL 프로그램’을 통해 고립·은둔 청년의 회복 역량을 높이기 위한 전공 간 협력 교육과 일본 현장연수를 운영하며 통합적 지원 방안을 모색했다.전북대는 간호학과와 사회복지학과 학생을 대상으로 ‘IPE 기반 Co-Production PBL을 통한 고립·은둔 청년 회복 역량 강화 프로그램’을 진행했다고 19일 밝혔다. 이번 프로그램에는 간호학과 김지영·정재원 교수와 사회복지학과 김서현 교수가 참여했으며, 학부생과 대학원생을 포함해 간호학과 10명, 사회복지학과 10명 등 총 20명의 학생이 함께했다.2026 글로벌 PBL 프로그램의 일환으로 추진된 이번 교육은 국내 사전학습 3일과 지난 8월 10일부터 14일까지 진행된 일본 홋카이도 현장연수로 진행됐다.국내 사전학습은 문제중심학습(PBL)과 전문직 간 교육(IPE)을 기반으로 진행됐다. 간호학과 정재원 교수는 전문직 간 교육(IPE)의 의미와 필요성을 소개하며, 고립·은둔 청년과 같이 복합적인 욕구를 가진 대상자를 지원하기 위해서는 단일 전문직의 접근을 넘어 보건의료와 복지 분야가 서로의 전문성과 관점을 이해하고 협력하는 것이 중요하다고 강조했다. 간호·사회복지 전공 학생들은 고립·은둔 청년 문제의 복합성을 살펴보고, 보건·의료와 복지 영역을 아우르는 통합적 지원 방안을 함께 탐구했다.특히 고립·은둔 경험 당사자가 교육 과정에 직접 참여해 자신의 경험을 공유하고 학생들과 지원 방안을 논의하는 공동생산(Co-production) 학습이 이뤄졌다. 학생들은 전북청년미래센터를 방문해 국내 고립·은둔 청년 지원 정책과 현장 실천 사례도 살펴봤다.일본 현장연수에서는 삿포로 청년지원센터 등 관련 기관을 방문해 현지 지원체계와 실천 사례를 확인하고, 한국과 일본의 고립·은둔 청년 지원 현황을 비교했다.이어 홋카이도의료대학 학생들과 일본의 고립·은둔 경험 당사자가 참여한 가운데 사회복지학과 오쿠다 가오리 교수의 토론식 수업이 진행됐다. 참가자들은 양국의 경험과 관점을 공유하며 고립·은둔 청년 지원 방안을 함께 논의했다.학생들은 홋카이도의 정신장애인 공동체인 ‘베델의 집’을 방문해 당사자의 경험과 목소리, 자기결정권과 강점을 존중하는 회복 중심 돌봄을 직접 경험했다. 이를 통해 돌봄 제공자와 수혜자라는 일방적 관계를 넘어, 당사자와 전문가가 함께 배우며 회복의 방식을 만들어가는 관계의 중요성을 성찰했다.이번 프로그램은 전공 간 협력(IPE), 당사자와 전문가의 공동생산(Co-production), 한·일 현장 비교, 문제중심학습(PBL)을 하나의 교육과정으로 연결했다는 점에서 의미를 더했다.권윤종 학생(간호학과 4년)은 “고립·은둔 청년 문제는 의료나 복지 어느 한 영역만으로 해결하기 어려운 복합적인 문제”라며 “서로 다른 전공의 관점을 나누고 당사자와 현장 전문가의 목소리를 통해 실질적인 해결 방안을 함께 고민할 수 있어 의미 있었다”고 소감을 밝혔다.김서현 교수(사회복지학과)는 “한국과 일본의 현장을 직접 비교하고 베델의 집에서 당사자가 회복의 주체가 되는 모습을 경험하면서, 학생들이 전문가의 역할과 돌봄의 의미를 새롭게 성찰하는 계기가 됐다”고 밝혔다.Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Seeks Solutions for Recovery of Reclusive Youth Through Global PBL ProgramThe Department of Nursing and the Department of Social Welfare at JBNU operated an interdisciplinary training program and a field study in Japan through the 2026 Global PBL Program to explore integrated support measures aimed at enhancing the recovery capacity of isolated and reclusive youth.JBNU announced on the 19th that it conducted the "Strengthening Recovery Capacity of Isolated and Reclusive Youth Through IPE-Based Co-Production PBL" program for students from the Department of Nursing and the Department of Social Welfare. The program involved Professors Ji-young Kim and Jae-won Jeong from the Department of Nursing and Professor Seohyun Kim from the Department of Social Welfare. A total of 20 students participated, including 10 from the Department of Nursing and 10 from the Department of Social Welfare, comprising both undergraduates and graduate students. As part of the 2026 Global PBL Program, the training consisted of three days of domestic pre-study and a field study in Hokkaido, Japan, conducted from August 10 to 14. The domestic pre-study was based on problem-based learning (PBL) and Interprofessional Education (IPE). Professor Jae-won Jeong of the Department of Nursing introduced the meaning and necessity of IPE, emphasizing that supporting individuals with complex needs—such as isolated and reclusive youth—requires more than a single-profession approach. He noted that it is important for the health care and welfare sectors to understand each other’s expertise and perspectives and to collaborate. Nursing and social welfare students examined the complexity of isolation and social withdrawal among youth and jointly explored integrated support measures spanning health care and welfare domains.Notably, persons with lived experience of isolation and social withdrawal participated directly in the curriculum to share their experiences and discuss support measures with students through Co-production learning. Students also visited the Jeonbuk Youth Future Center to review domestic policies and field practice examples for supporting isolated and reclusive youth. During the field study in Japan, participants visited relevant institutions such as the Sapporo Youth Support Center to observe local support systems and practices, and compared the status of support for isolated and reclusive youth in Korea and Japan.A seminar-style class was held with students from a Hokkaido medical university and Japanese individuals with lived experience of isolation and social withdrawal, led by Professor Kaori Okuda of the Department of Social Welfare. Participants from both countries shared experiences and perspectives and discussed support strategies for isolated and reclusive youth together.Students visited "Bethel House," a mental health community in Hokkaido, where they directly experienced service users’ experiences and voices and observed recovery-centered care that respects self-determination and strengths. Through this, they reflected on the importance of relationships in which service users and professionals learn together and co-create pathways to recovery, rather than a one-way relationship of care provider and recipient.The program was meaningful in that it connected Interprofessional Education (IPE), Co-production between service users and professionals, Korea–Japan field comparison, and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) into a single curriculum.Yun-jong Kwon, a fourth-year student in the Department of Nursing, said, “The issue of isolated and reclusive youth is a complex problem that cannot be solved by either the medical or welfare field alone. It was meaningful to share perspectives from different majors and to consider practical solutions together through the voices of people with lived experience and field experts.”Professor Seohyun Kim (Department of Social Welfare) stated, “By directly comparing the field practices in Korea and Japan and experiencing how service users become agents of their own recovery at Bethel House, students had an opportunity to newly reflect on the role of professionals and the meaning of care.”

The program was implemented as part of JBNU's Glocal University initiative and was a Project-Based Learning (PBL) program. It was designed to support students in developing the ability to identify and solve research problems in social and criminal psychology.The students visited the Department of Security and Crime Science at University College London (UCL) and attended criminology presentations by local researchers, including Department Head Professor Joliffe, Dr. Nakhhaeizade, and Dr. Listea. They then continued discussions on cultural differences in perspectives on social issues and crime, observing the research and collaboration systems of a world-class laboratory. At the Centre for Psychological Science at the University of Westminster, a cultural psychology research exchange was held. Participants heard presentations by Professor Perachi, Professor Murakami, Professor Chan-ki Moon, and Dr. Chan-ki Song and engaged in Q&A focused on their research interests. They also participated in a "Group Flow" workshop led by PhD candidate Delgado and expanded exchanges through academic discussions with local students. At Royal Holloway, they discussed cultural characteristics of Koreans with postdoctoral researcher Dr. Kim Tae-ik and received advice on differences in graduate school life by country and on preparing for overseas study. The students also visited major museums in the UK to explore cultural differences in perceptions of intergroup criminal behavior. They examined how exhibitions on colonialism, slavery, and imperialism present these topics, and through online discussions with domestic participants Lee Eun-bom and Choi Yong-jun, they discussed differences in how historical events are perceived when Korea and Britain are positioned as perpetrator or victim nations.Professor Chan-ki Moon said, "This global PBL program provided students with an opportunity to broaden their international perspectives and to develop their own research interests by identifying research topics independently. Having confirmed the importance of cultural factors across various subfields of psychology, including social and criminal psychology, we will continue to expand cooperation with overseas universities to support the training of professional researchers with global capabilities."The participating students will refine the research ideas gained from this visit and begin actual research from August, and will present their research results at a future division conference of the Korean Psychological Association.

This program was designed to help nursing students at the undergraduate level understand rapidly evolving advanced medical technologies—such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, and smart medical devices—and to develop convergent capabilities that connect and apply these technologies to nursing practice.To this end, the College will hold special lectures during the summer break led by faculty from the University of Minnesota. From August 22 to 28, students and faculty will travel to the United States for a five‑night, seven‑day program to directly experience advanced nursing education environments and cutting‑edge clinical settings.The Global PBL is primarily characterized as a field‑linked exchange that goes beyond a simple overseas institutional visit. Through Global PBL activities, students identify inefficiencies and safety issues arising in clinical settings and seek practical solutions that utilize AI and digital health technologies.During the U.S. visit, participating students will visit the University of Minnesota's Department of Nursing as well as world‑class medical institutions including the Mayo Clinic main campus and multinational innovation company 3M. They will also visit a variety of local clinical training sites affiliated with M Health Fairview, such as cancer centers and children's hospitals, to gain broad experience of advanced medical service systems.Building on this exchange, the College of Nursing plans to expand student dispatches and develop the program into an interdisciplinary convergence education (Interprofessional Education, IPE) program linked with the College of Engineering (including biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, and computer engineering). The College will support outstanding student ideas that emerge so they can proceed to follow‑up research, patentable technologies, or real‑world clinical application.Professor Hyung-eun Jang, who is leading this program, said, 'Through this Global PBL, students will experience advanced medical environments during the break and, through exchanges with students from top overseas universities, enhance cultural receptivity and global communication skills. The project period is three years, through May 31, 2029.The project applies and standardizes the advanced disease diagnostic and biosecurity technologies the center has accumulated to Harim's domestically largest poultry production infrastructure. Through this, it aims to enhance hygiene and disease management across rearing and hatchery stages and to raise the international competitiveness of the domestic poultry industry.The center will first establish a biosecurity management manual based on hygiene grades of farms and hatcheries and will promote the introduction of a Salmonella-free certification system.It will also develop a standard diagnostic protocol for Marek's disease and pursue its registration as a national standard diagnostic method. The center will oversee field demonstration and clinical evaluation of a next-generation "hatchery vaccine platform" capable of responding to co-infections of avian influenza (AI) and infectious bronchitis (IB), in order to verify the effectiveness and scientific reliability of vaccination-based disease control.Jang Hyung-kwan, Director of the JBNU Center for Avian Disease, said, "This agreement is a leading model of industry–academia–research cooperation in which a university research center's unique disease-control core technologies change industry hygiene standards.
