The Department of Social Studies Education at Chonbuk National University, College of Education, is dedicated to training future teachers who will teach the subject of Social Studies in secondary schools. As part of a national university, our department is committed to educating outstanding students not only from the Jeonbuk region but also from across the country. All of our faculty members devote themselves wholeheartedly to both research and teaching in order to nurture excellent educators. In addition, with the administrative support of our teaching assistants, we strive to operate our curriculum smoothly, communicate with students in diverse ways, and create the best possible educational and learning environment.
These collective efforts, combined with the diligence of our students, have led to outstanding achievements, including a high success rate in the teacher certification examination. Our graduates are now serving as teachers throughout Korea, not only in the Jeonbuk region but nationwide, and they are actively contributing to youth education both in public and private schools.
Furthermore, both the Graduate School of Education and the general graduate school provide opportunities for further study and research, enabling current teachers and graduates who wish to pursue professional development or enhance their research capabilities to continue learning.
We look forward to welcoming many talented students to our Department of Social Studies Education, where they can develop into competent teachers who help cultivate democratic citizens. At the same time, we encourage and support graduates who choose other career paths—such as public service, professional fields, or research—to fully realize their potential and make meaningful contributions to society.
