ABOUT KMEI-TIP
About the Institute
Across the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa, the Arab world is placing knowledge and technology at the heart of its future.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have set artificial intelligence at the center of national strategy. Qatar and Egypt continue to broaden their investment in research and development. Each country designs its path of transition on its own terms and at its own pace, and this Institute does not seek to gather that diversity into a single account. Respect for the context of each society is where our research begins.
KMEI-TIP was established to provide scholarly foundations for technology cooperation between the two regions in this era of transformation. Policy experience does not travel in one direction. The Institute is a forum in which Korea and the Middle East set their policy experience side by side and read it together. It conducts theoretical research on technology and innovation policy, policy transfer, and the interaction between regulation and innovation, and identifies policy options for Korea–Middle East cooperation in strategic sectors, including the defense industry, healthcare, physical AI, sovereign AI, and digital twins. In parallel, the Institute examines how the transformations of the AI era affect youth, women, employment, and education, seeking cooperation models in which technology and people advance together.
