To cultivate excellent talents needed by the nation and society, Jeonbuk National University offers its own scholarships and external scholarships from development support foundations, government, public organizations, alumni associations, scholarship corporations, corporate and individual donations, and many students receive scholarship benefits.
On-Campus Scholarships
Scholarships awarded from the university's accounting fund, funded by the tuition of current students
Types
- Academic Excellence Scholarship: Awarded to students with excellent academic performance who meet the criteria for each department.
- Purpose Scholarship: Awarded after screening applicants for scholarships such as the Self-Improvement Scholarship and Family Scholarship.
- Outstanding Freshman Scholarship: Awarded based on freshman admission grades, including the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT).
- Dotum Scholarship: Awarded to those who applied for the National Scholarship, based on income brackets.
Amount Classification
- Type 1: Full tuition.
- Type 2: Full university accounting.
- Type 3: 50% of university accounting.
- Type 4: 25% of university accounting.
- Type 5: Tuition.
Other Information
- Payment Method: Students selected for each scholarship will receive a priority discount on their tuition bill.

Off-campus Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to selected students enrolled at our university, funded by various off-campus scholarship foundations and funds.
National Scholarships
- Paid to all enrolled students by the Korea Student Aid Foundation based on income level.
- Application Period: December/June each year.
- Application Method: Online application on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website (www.kosaf.go.kr).
- Eligibility: Students in the 8th income bracket or lower, with a GPA of 2.75 and at least 6 credits earned.
- Distribution Method: Tuition deductions are provided to students who apply in December/June. Students who do not qualify for the deduction will receive individual scholarships.
- Scholarship Amount: Differentiated by income bracket (basic livelihood security recipients and those in the lowest bracket will receive full tuition).
National Excellence Scholarhsip
- To foster a core national talent pool and promote the advancement of relevant academic fields, this scholarship is awarded to students in science, engineering, humanities, and social sciences through a selection process.
- Application Deadline: Beginning of each semester
- Application Method: Refer to the announcement on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website for application criteria and payment criteria.
- Award Criteria and Method: Refer to the Korea Student Aid Foundation Selection Criteria.
- Scholarship: Full tuition for the 4th and 8th semesters (additional living expenses for recipients of basic livelihood security).
Other External Scholarships
External scholarships are announced regularly through academic notices and departmental announcements, depending on the selection period of external scholarship funds. Therefore, students should inquire with their department office and regularly check campus announcements.
