Introduction
The Department of Plastic Surgery at our hospital, established in 1989 by Professor Yang Kyung-moo, performs over 1,569 surgeries annually, serving over 1,000 inpatients and approximately 10,000 outpatients. As one of the leading medical teams in the field of plastic surgery (three professors, two full-time physicians, and eight residents), we provide appropriate medical services with state-of-the-art facilities.
Plastic surgery is a specialized surgical discipline that focuses on the reconstruction of deformities and the correction of functional defects. The department is divided into two divisions: aesthetic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Aesthetic surgery includes procedures for the eyelids, nose, facial contouring, liposuction, facelifts, and the correction of physical deformities. Reconstructive surgery aims to restore function to burns, facial fractures, congenital craniofacial deformities, cleft lip, cleft palate, maxillofacial deformities, facial paralysis, head and neck cancer, skin tumors, hand and foot deformities, and trauma-related defects. Microsurgery helps restore hand function after trauma and can be used to restore function after trauma or tumor resection with flap surgery.
Our department operates specialized clinics to meet the growing needs of our patients, including a hand clinic for hand reattachment and hand trauma, a foot clinic for patients with diabetic foot ulcers, a microsurgery clinic for breast or lower extremity reconstruction, and a cosmetic clinic.
Through ongoing research into new plastic surgery techniques and treatments, our department strives for balanced plastic surgery and continuously pursues medical innovation to achieve the best surgical outcomes for our patients.
