Introduction
The Department of Psychiatry's educational program is divided into lectures and clinical practicums. Lectures are organized into Patient-Doctor-Society and Psychiatry, beginning with Patient-Doctor-Society (56 hours, 3 credits) in the first semester of the first year. Through this course, students develop a broad understanding of human relationships and behavior. They also learn about the psychological, cognitive, and social aspects of human behavior, as well as the outward aspects. The second part of the course, Psychiatry (48 hours, 2.5 credits), is conducted in the second semester of the second year. Students acquire fundamental knowledge and theories for understanding and treating mental and behavioral disorders.
Clinical practicums (160 hours, 4 credits) are conducted in the first semester of the third year. Six students are divided into four groups and participate in the practicum for four weeks. The curriculum is structured as follows: (1) Students practice through observation and discussion of clinical situations in outpatient settings, (2) review and present case reports, and (3) participate in and observe all ward activities and programs, including group therapy, meditation, graded exercise therapy, music therapy, art therapy, and recreational therapy. On the final day of clinical practice, clinical instructors evaluate students.
