Introduction
The Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery provides diagnosis and surgery for benign and malignant diseases of the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas. Annually, we perform over 600 laparoscopic cholecystectomies for gallbladder stones and gallbladder polyps, and over 100 open or laparoscopic hepatectomies for malignant liver tumors. We also conduct various surgical treatments and research for benign and malignant pancreatic diseases. Building on this foundation, we have hosted an annual Liver Anatomy Workshop since 2005, fostering active academic exchange with leading domestic and international scholars in liver surgery and anatomy. Kidney transplantation, which began in 1989, has been performed consistently, with over 330 cases to date. Since 2005, we have also begun performing living and deceased donor liver transplants, playing a pivotal role in organ transplantation and donor and recipient management in the region. We also specialize in peripheral vascular disease, including acute arterial occlusion, chronic arteriosclerotic stenosis and occlusion, deep vein thrombosis, acute and chronic venous disease, abdominal and other aneurysms, and arteriovenous fistula creation and management for hemodialysis. Recently, we have expanded our interventional procedures, including percutaneous endovascular treatment, in collaboration with the Department of Radiology, enabling us to perform both surgical and non-invasive procedures for vascular disease. Furthermore, we play a leading role in the provision of nutrition to critically ill patients in hospitals and in community medical nutrition therapy by conducting various research, lectures, and hosting academic meetings on parenteral and enteral nutrition.
