Introduction
The Department of Ophthalmology at Jeonbuk National University School of Medicine, established on September 12, 1978, has produced eight doctoral students, 20 master's students, and 46 ophthalmologists as of 2013.
Currently, five faculty members (two of whom are currently studying abroad), two fellows, and eight residents are engaged in clinical and surgical practice. They provide care across all areas of ophthalmology, including the retina clinic, ophthalmology plastic surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, low vision clinic, glaucoma and cataract clinic, and corneoconjunctiva and external eye clinic. Furthermore, the relocation of the ophthalmology outpatient clinic in March 2011 enabled the department to provide a more pleasant environment and state-of-the-art facilities, enabling it to provide even better, higher-quality medical services to patients.
The Department of Ophthalmology not only provides ophthalmology education to medical school students, but also publishes the latest research and findings in domestic and international academic journals annually. Furthermore, two residents are selected each year for ophthalmology education and training.
